MARATHWADA

Seven districts of Maharashtra, namely

Aurangabad, Beed, Osmanabad, Nanded,

Parbhani, Latur and Jalna

make up a region  known as Marathwada.

Climate

Climate of Marathwada is generally hot and dry but is less severe than Vidarbha.

Rainfall

Rainfall is less and of short duration.

Soil

The gravelly soil is of unfertile nature. However, on the banks of Godavari river, alluvial soil is found.

Fauna, Flora and others

It is more productive and differs in vegetation at other places. Flora of Marathwada developed on the Deccan trap hills is composed of typical trap soils, with rainfall 500-600 mm and with altitudes between low barren hills.
