Eleven districts of Maharashtra, namely
Buldhana, Yeotmal, Amravati, Akola, Washim,
Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli and Chandrapur
are collectively known as Vidarbha.
Climate
Climate of Vidarbha is generally hot and dry except for the four months of monsoon.
Rainfall
The rainfall varies from 790 to 1470 mm with the number of rainy days varying between 40 and 65, from place to place.
Temperature
Highest temperature touches 47degree centigrade at number of places and minimum drops to 2.8 degree centigrade at Sironcha in Chandrapur district.
Humidity
Humidity is less than 30% except in monsoon when it goes upto 65-70% depending upon the rainfall and the surrounding vegetation.
Others
Gusty winds blow in October and November. The post monsoon storms and depressions from Bay of Bengal affect the weather Vidarbha stands on the puland plateau of 457 to 550 m elevation.It consists of Deccan trap basalt giving rise to black cotton soils.
